Wenger rejects Mourinho claims

Well, well, now. The Arsenal transfer news may be as dry as the Sahara desert, but Jose Mourinho’s mouth was full of wet words for Arsenal once again.

Mourinho told ESPN FC on Wednesday that that the Premier League is “very, very hard” due to the amount of money that its member teams are able to spend, and believes that five teams are capable of winning the title next season. “Mourinho is amusing, scathing, driven and intense, but never mellow”. They are more than ready to be title contenders.

But, although some Arsenal fans were angered by the switch, the midfielder insists he still has strong feelings for the Emirates club.

The 34-year-old defender also said that, if he were no longer a first-choice player, he would follow the example of goalkeeper Petr Cech, who acted professionally after losing his place to Thibaut Courtois last season and has now joined Arsenal.

The Blues manager has rarely seen eye to eye with Wenger, and last season he famously branded the Frenchman a “specialist in failure”. “He will get games at Arsenal”.

While Cech will go from Chelsea friend to foe in the traditional season-opening match between the Premier League champions and FA Cup winners, the loveless relationship between the two managers gives the fixture added spice.

Mourinho was in typically scathing form when talking about another rival Manuel Pellegrini, the Manchester City boss. Yes, it was only pre-season, but this team looks to be carrying over the confidence it had at the end of the last. The former Chelsea player’s experience and brilliance will be crucial for Arsene Wenger’s men.

“I think what you want is not to listen too much to what people say, because sometimes in the same week I get two different reproaches: one I don’t spend enough and one too much”.

Having presented the olive branch he then withdrew it and accused Pellegrini of being “obsessed” with him. I am always thinking about football but in my holidays I did zero interviews. It completely ruins everything you do.

“Is he obsessed with me?” I think the players mentioned by Jose should have this quote on the dressing room door as a motivation.
