As revealed previously by The Daily Telegraph, Wenger has always been the dream manager of PSG’s Qatari owners and the French sports newspaper L’Equipe reported yesterday that Wenger had rejected three separate approaches in 2011, 2013 and 2014.
“It’s a relief”, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said. Because I love where I am.
For the last 16 years in succession PSG’s opponents Arsenal have reached the second stage of the competition, only to suffer the frustration of defeat in the first knockout round for six seasons in a row.
The Frenchman has been captaining Arsenal in the absence of Per Mertesacker this season and would be badly missed against PSG, as Wenger conceded, particularly given the lack of alternatives. However, the former Sevilla boss has suggested that he could be ready to lead his back-line against the Gunners as the Champions League opener is a game for “big players” like the Brazilian centre-back.
Another tough encounter awaits Mustafi shortly after arriving from Valencia, as Arsenal take on PSG in matchday one of the new Champions League campaign tonight.
Mustafi is expected to start on Tuesday against Paris Saint-Germain but the Lucas will be on the bench with Olivier Giroud leading the Arsenal offensive department.
“I think we should do things a little differently this season”, he said.
Koscielny’s spectacular goal? He is one of the most experienced players we have here. They’re always in the Champions League.
“I think our reaction (to going behind) was very good, we got a goal back in the first half, we tried to push for the winning goal”.

“It’s important that we play our game and try to get the three points”. “We couldn’t afford to drop points in our second home game of the season”, added Wenger. We have our final session later today: Thiago Silva, Maxwell, Pastore. yesterday’s training session was more positive for me because everyone made it clear they wanted to be involved. On Monday evening, at the Parc des Princes, Wenger revealed how hard PSG’s Qatari owners, with whom he is still in touch, had tried to make him the manager there.
