Wenger: Xhaka can be Arsenal’s new Petit
After their first two Premier League games yielded nothing but frustration, Arsenal finally got their season going with an impressive 3-1 victory over Watford.

Arsenal sealed their first three points of this season against Watford.
But Arsenal looked sharper this time around and, with the signings of Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez imminent, they are in better shape heading into the global break.
However, with just three days of the transfer window left, Arsenal have only signed a holding midfielder and a defender nobody’s heard of from the Championship.
The hosts were starting to create more and defender Christian Kabasele nearly marked his Premier League debut with a goal but could only glance Etienne Capoue’s corner wide of the post. In the second half he dropped physically. I like how they play here. In the second half we played good football and we should have scored more. “Unfortunately they managed to score a goal and the game then became more lively”. “We had two hard away games (against Leicester City and Watford) but today I believe we had a good solid performance”, Wenger said. We saw he has a good engine, good stature, he is good in the air and has a good balance in his game, he has a good short ball and a good long ball.
It was Watford who ended the Gunners’ hopes of a third successive FA Cup last season and they soon demonstrated they could again cause their opponents problems.
“You work every day to be ready for weekend and midweek games and all the games that come”. “They had medicals. We have to finish the paperwork and I don’t know exactly when we will announce it but look, I think it could be announced at the beginning of the week”. There is no hiding from that. “We don’t have any plans for anyone else now”.
Walter Mazzarri’s side put in a much-improved performance after the break but the Italian was made to wait for his first win as Watford manager.
Mazzarri, who arrived in the summer, has spent the last two weeks reinforcing his team, bringing in forward Roberto Pereyra from Juventus, Younes Kaboul from Sunderland and fellow defender Daryl Janmaat from Newcastle.
“I said before the season started that we will get a different Theo Walcott this year”.
“So we are happy now, it’s confidence for the team”.
“We have a good little break now and we can help them to join the squad”.

“Defensively we are just getting minor details wrong at the moment”.
