West Ham face an FA investigation as a result of the ugly scenes, which is set to scrutinise the distance between rival fans and the levels of stewarding inside the ground.
That could mean a strong police presence will be seen inside the London Stadium for future games – including Boro’s visit to east London on Saturday, October 1.

The club have vowed to take strong action against anyone involved in the violence at the weekend, claiming they are prepared to sanction lifetime bans.
Many West Ham fans had already left Saturday’s game when fights broke out in the stands.
“E20 confirmed that immediate action is being taken on the issues raised”, said a West Ham club statement.
The club promised a “full review” of security at the former Olympic Stadium after the “segregation line” between Watford and West Ham fans was breached.
The Hammers have also appealed to supporters to report any incidents to the club.
West Ham have won just one of their opening four Premier League matches, and now sit in 17th place in the standings. “The club will continue prioritising this approach around the stadium”.
“Supporters are requested to provide as much information as possible, as the more intelligence the club have the more proactive and focused all efforts to clamp down on anti-social behaviour will be”.
