“Now, to be able to play with players like Dimitri Payet it’s going to be insane”.

Bilic believes the player – who suffered yet another injury-scarred season last term – can show he is one of the most effective forwards around if he can maintain his current form.

“I am very proud and happy to be at this magnificent Club”.

And Olympiacos’ French left-back Arthur Masuaku is also on the brink of making a £1m move to the club.

West Ham manager, Slaven Bilic, had been looking to strengthen his forward options ahead of the new season especially as he prepares for life without Diafra Sakho left the club for West Bromwich Albion. “I want to give back to the manager and the fans the confidence they are showing me”, he added.

He told West Ham’s official website: “It’s a big honour for me to be part of this club”. “He is a manager who has wanted me for the past few years and today I’m lucky to play under him”. The Southend born midfielder made 18 appearances for the West Yorkshire side as they reached the play-off semi-finals last season.

The Ghana global won the BBC African Player of the Year in 2011 and signs a four-year deal to become West Ham’s record signing.

“It’s going to be a hard season but we need to be ready physically and mentally to get the right performances and results to let the Stadium and everyone all go with it”, Ayew insisted.
