West Ham sign Swans’ Ayew for club record

“I am happy to be playing for these fans and I hope to make the people very happy here”, said Ayew in a statement at his new club’s website, as per ESPN.

Manager Slaven Bilic will now have Ayew, Andy Carroll, Dimitri Payet, Manuel Lanzini and Sofiane Feghouli to choose from.

West Ham United have agreed a fee of about £20m to sign Ghana striker Andre Ayew from Swansea City.

The manager said: “We are looking at two new players and we are close, I thought it would be yesterday and they would be involved today”.

Payet was a key figure in the Hammers’ seventh placed finish last season and also played a vital role in France’s progression to the final of Euro 2016, only to be ousted by Portugal in extra-time.

Speaking after West Ham’s 3-2 friendly defeat to Juventus on Sunday, Bilic told reporters: “It’s only a matter of paperwork. We are going to have two new players at West Ham”.

Allegri, who gave a debut to £75million striker Gonzalo Higuain, was also impressed, saying: “Carroll is a very good player, he can make a team very risky and he is very good in set-pieces”.

West Ham have moved to strengthen their options at left-back after Aaron Cresswell was injured during preseason.

The Hammed also failed to land David Santon from Inter Milan.

The former France Under-19 worldwide won two Greek Superleague titles, as well as the Greek Cup, during his two-year stint with Olympiacos, who signed Masuaku after he impressed after breaking into the Valenciennes side as a teenager.

The 23-year-old striker scored 18 goals in 34 appearances for La Liga minnows Eibar last season and is due for a medical with the Welsh side in the coming days.
