So this is pretty much turning out to be a golden period for our Indian sportspersons.

The 22-year-old goalie started her football career when she took part in the Delhi under-19 team trials. She was appreciated for her contribution to India winning the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) women’s cup in 2013.

Chauhan’s debut could have gone better as West Ham lost 5-0 to Coventry.

West Ham Ladies are presently within the Football Association’s (FA) Women’s Premier League Southern Division, a league within the third degree within the ladies’s soccer construction in England.

Her favourite player is Lionel Messi and she idolizes Manuel Neur’s goalkeeping skills.

Scores of people have begun congratulating her on Twitter, including the Indian football team and her former club FC Goa.

Aditi represented India at the women’s football competition at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games.

“CHAUHAN: Plenty of affection on Twitter in the present day for our new Indian worldwide goalkeeper @aditi03chauhan from again house in India! Hi all! #COY”, the club added on Sunday.

The sportswoman from Delhi was signed pre-season by the third-tier London club for one year from Loughborough University in Leicestershire, where she recently completed an MSc in sports management.

In reaction to her signing and subsequent debut, Chauhan tweeted: “Thank you all for the overwhelming response and wishes. We need to build ourselves back, get together and move forward”, she told the club’s YouTube channel.

Aditi says: “It’s a step up for me after playing for Loughborough”.

She is also arguably the first female footballer from India to do so, as Tanvie Hans (a Delhi footballer Fulham and her friend) has become a British citizen.
