“All we can do is say sorry to the fans for that and move on to the next game”.

However, the Hornets hit back with two goals in six minutes before half-time, before striking twice after the break to claim a dramatic 4-2 victory.

Troy Deeney claimed West Ham star Dimitri Payet was the inspiration for Watford’s unbelievable comeback at the London Stadium – accusing the mercurial Frenchman of “trying to mug us off” with an outrageous assist.

West Ham United are now in 17th place in the Premier League table. To make matters worse, there were toxic scenes in the crowd with West Ham fans fighting amongst each other.

“E20 confirmed today that immediate action is being taken on the issues raised”.

“We have been assured this will be in place ahead of the next match”, West Ham said.

Pictures and video taken from inside the ground appeared to show clashes between rival fans as the line of stewards segregating home and away supporters was breached.

Watford prioritised bringing a creative midfielder to the club this summer and pulled off a major coup by signing the 25-year-old.

No arrests were made, but the club has asked fans to report all incidents to the club directly as they attempt to cut down the level of anti-social behaviour inside their new home.
