Saturday’s game in Lauderhill had been a spectacular affair, West Indies winning by one run after the highest-scoring Twenty20 global in history.

Dhoni rued that his “wrong” execution of the shot off the final delivery prevented his side from achieving what could have been a world record run chase ever.

The 24-year-old Lewis, whose only other appearance in the game’s shortest form had ended with a duck in the shock defeat to Afghanistan at the World Twenty20 this year, feasted on flawless batting conditions at the Florida venue.

West Indies’ Evin Lewis’ 49-ball 100 in the first T20 has helped him move up 288 slots to reach 51st position.

It was the fifth fastest T20I century.

Charles’s 25-ball innings consisted of two sixes and five fours.

Mishra put the brakes on the scoring rate, giving away only four runs in that over.

Dhoni said there needed to be quicker recognition from the bowlers to adjust their game plans when it became clear that the pristine batting pitch was suiting the West Indies’ hyper-aggressive approach spearheaded by Charles, who struck 79 off 33 balls.

After bowling out the West Indies for 143 in 19.4 overs, India were 15/0 in two overs when the dark clouds hovering over Lauderhill opened up, interrupting the play.
