West Indies to play second T20 this evening

The West Indies finished with a total of 245, leaving India having to pull off what would have been the largest run chase in T20 history.

The No. 2 ranked India, tasted the defeat in the very first t20 match against West Indies. Dhoni was dropped by Marlon Samuels off the very first ball.

West Indies won the two-match Twenty20 series against India after no result was possible in Sunday’s match in Florida due to rain.

West Indian opener Evin Lewis’ 49-ball 100 in the first T20 has helped him move up 288 slots to reach 51st position. India managed to score 244.

But Rohit Sharma (62) and Rahul staged a spectacular rebuilding job.

Lewis brought up his first worldwide T20 century in the 16th over in just 48 balls which included 9 sixes at a strike rate of 208.

It remains to be seen if one will see some insane batting like yesterday, where 32 sixes were hit. It narrowed down to India needing two off the last ball.

“We did take a bit of risk with Mishra coming in replacing Binny because we were one batsman short”.

After a last ball thriller at Fort Lauderdale, both India and West Indies will try to give it their all in the 2nd and final T20I at the same venue today.

“We never do things easy, but we held our nerve”. They love sixes, boundaries and wickets. “Now we will be playing a lot of matches, so we can rotate out fast bowlers if we want to”, Dhoni said, as quoted by Indian Express.

Just like he has done in ODIs and Tests, Rahul completed his hundred with a six to bring down the equation in India’s favour. That left India with just eight runs from the final over.

The second and final T20 global will be played at the same venue tomorrow.

Dhoni, who was batting at the crease during the final six balls, said that although he had guessed the last delivery from Bravo correct, he failed to execute it properly.

The earlier highest number of sixes in an innings was 19 hit by Netherlands against Ireland in 2014.

The Caribbean side had piled up 245 on Saturday in what was the third highest total of all time.

Lewis, standing in for the injured Chris Gayle, reached exactly 100 off 48 balls with five fours and nine sixes and when he was out off the fifth ball of the 16th over, world champions West Indies were 205-3. That was the plan and we just kept hitting well, kept connecting.

Except for Ravichandran Ashwin (0/36), all the other five bowlers went for more than 10 runs an over.

Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja picked up two wickets each. I felt we were totally in the game. Mohammed Shami took the wicket of the centurion in the previous match, Evin Lewis, in the third over of the match.

Ashwin 4-0-36-0, R.
