After suffering a 1-run loss in the first T20I at Florida against West Indies, India went into the last match needing the win in order to level the series.

MS Dhoni, the India captain, has called for improvement while bowling in the first six overs and has asked his bowlers to assess conditions quickly, to determine what a competitive spell is ahead of the second T20 worldwide against West Indies in Florida on Sunday.

With the second match of the series being called off due to wet conditions, reigning T20 champions West Indies won the T20 series 1-0, which helped the Caribbean side narrow the gap with India in the team rankings.

Their last meeting came at the semi-finals of the ICC World T20 in India earlier this year where West Indies went on to win. Dhoni made a 25-ball 43.

Brathwaite (18) smashed a six and four off Mishra in the 18th over but the captain was bowled off the Indian’s last ball of his impressive spell. The duo steered West Indies past the 100 mark by the eighth over.

Indian run chase began with Rohit Sharma (62 from 28 balls) hitting three fours off Samuel Badree to take 14 runs from the second over.

Johnson Charles (79) and Lewis immediately set about punishing the India attack with a blistering 57-ball partnership of 126.

32 Runs that West Indies scored off Stuart Binny in the 11th over of the innings – Lewis struck five sixes and took a single, while one ball was a wide.

46 Balls for KL Rahul’s century, the second fastest in T20Is, and just one ball behind the record of 45, by South Africa’s Richard Levi.

West Indies also paid the price for giving Rahul another chance on 38 when skipper Carlos Brathwaite dropped him at long off off Andre Russell.

Young Jasprit Bumrah too bowled exceptionally well and finished his quota of four overs by giving just 26 runs and got two wickets.

However, Dhoni disagreed with Brathwaite’s assessment and said that he had played under “worse conditions” during his career, providing the example of India’s ODI series against England in 2011, which was also affected by rain.
