Westbrook clinches triple-double average for season

There are many individuals in the world of sports who are protective of the term “must win”.

He has put more than just the team on his back, he has put a city on his back and is determined to bring a championship to Oklahoma City.

Today, the Nuggets are there. Then, he broke the Denver Nuggets’ hearts.

That is the definition of this Oklahoma City Thunder team. Also, they had their second win over Nuggets, 106-121. Westbrook drew a foul on Jamal Murray, which resulted in three free throws to bring OKC within four points, then quickly added another layup to cut OKC’s deficit to only two points with 27 seconds left. For such an indomitable player to set the record for most in a season is proof this wretched universe makes sense sometimes.

Live Score Updates are available on official Twitter pages of Oklahoma City Thunder and Denver Nuggets. Despite the game being played on the road, the crowd in Denver anxiously awaited the big moment and showered the Thunder superstar with a raucous ovation in the wake of the history-making play.

But even this awful performance featured plenty of the spectacle that always comes along with The Russell Westbrook Experience.

The Raptors reached 50 victories for the second straight season and can still finish second if they beat Cleveland in their regular-season finale and Boston lose their final two. The MVP candidate’s three 50-point triple-doubles are also a new National Basketball Association single-season record.

“My motto was ‘Why not?'” said Westbrook, whose 79th career triple-double moved him past Wilt Chamberlain for fourth place on the all-time list.

He finished his record-smashing performance in the most Westbrook way ever.

Robertson averaged 30.8 points, 12.5 rebounds and 11.4 assists in 1961-62, and was seven rebounds short of doing it again two seasons later.

Westbrook came into the game averaging 31.7 points, 10.7 rebounds and 10.4 assists per contest. “And I think for Russell, he’s a unique talent that he gets an opportunity every night because of his ability to impact the game in a lot of different ways”.

Unfortunately, the Thunder were out of sorts as a result, and the Suns quietly got up 7-2 before Billy Donovan called a timeout. On his near-miss next assist (twice) the grief was evident when they missed.

Regardless, Jokic’s season has been impressive, and the Nuggets are going to need a big day from him in order to get the win.

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook (0) goes up for a shot against Denver Nuggets guard Gary Harris (14) during the first half of an NBA basketball game, Sunday, April 9, 2017, in Denver. In the first meeting, way back on November 25 at the Pepsi Center, Jokic was still coming off the bench.

Fans in Memphis have been disappointed before when LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love were sidelined when the Cleveland Cavaliers came to town on December 14.

T.J. Warren had 11 points and 3 rebounds, Devin Booker had 8 points and 3 assists.

Not only did it give the Thunder the win, but it knocked the Nuggets out of playoff contention as well. The Thunder are not only about to clinch a playoff spot, they are about to be the sixth seed.
