Westchester Will See Scattered Storms, Scorching Heat

Southeast wind 7 to 9 miles per hour. Chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 86. The threat for any severe weather will fall by the wayside with the loss of daytime heating, but moisture will continue to surge into the region on a breezy southerly wind. New precipitation amounts between a 10th and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. It could spark a shower or thunderstorm, but most should stay dry.

Lows will be below 60 Friday and Saturday nights. Chance of rain 50% High 93. New rainfall could be between half and three quarters of an inch.

Thursday: Showers and thunderstorms likely.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 80.

Sunday: Partly to mostly sunny and a little warmer.

Monday night the chance of showers or thunderstorms increases to 40 percent, mainly after 9.

The weekend is shaping up to be a good one, with mostly sunny skies and highs around 80 on Saturday and Sunday. It has a 30 percent chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next five days.

Friday night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms.

MONDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Wednesday: Widespread haze before 11 a.m. Sunny and hot, with a high near 99. Light east wind. Actual temperatures will be lower due to patchy clouds, spotty thunderstorms and a light flow off of the Atlantic Ocean.

We have a better chance for sunshine on Tuesday which will allow temperatures to climb well into the 80s.

The National Weather Service says we could get some heavy rain on Friday throughout southwest Connecticut.

Highs in the 80s and high humidity will be with us until a strong cold front moves through on Wednesday, forecasters said this morning.

We had two 90-degree days in a row.

The high today is expected to be 81. Still, it’s hard to rule out a continuation of the heat wave in the city as afternoon readings between 85 and 90 should be expected.
