Western Odisha celebrates Nuakhai with great fervor & gaiety
The stage is all set for the famous agrarian festival of Western Odisha-Nuakhai-which would be celebrated tomorrow with fervour and gaiety.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modis greeted the people of the western Odisha on the occasion of Nuakhai. “May this festival bring more prosperity in the lives of farmers”, Modi wrote on Twitter.
National BJP president Amit Shah also wished the people in Odisha.
“May this divine festival celebrating hard work of our farmer community usher in progress & prosperity #NuakhaiJuhar”, Patnaik tweeted.
On this auspicious day, the presiding deities “Maa Samaleswari” in Sambalpur, “Manikeswari” in Kalahandi, “Pataneswari” in Bolangir, “Sureshwari” in Sonepur and “Sekharbasini” in Sundargarh are offered the “Navanna” (rice cooked out of new grains of newly harvested paddy crop) as per “lagna” (propitious moment) fixed. Later, people offered “Nabanna” to their presiding deities in all the western Odisha districts. Several state ministers and leaders of different political parties also greeted the people on the occasion.
Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik also greeted the people of Odisha on the auspicious occasion of Nuakhai.

A sand sculpture by well-known sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik on Puri beach on the eve of the festival and retweeted and liked by thousands of people with the #nuakhai hastag.
