According to an official statement, it was decided that the location of industrial parks will be decided in consultation with the provinces, while allied facilities and infrastructure for the industrial parks will be set up by consultation between the federal and provincial governments.

“As a long-term and systematic project, the CPEC needs scientific planning before being implemented step by step”.

The parliamentary leaders will be given a detailed briefing on the routes and other projects under CPEC, Senator Mushahid said after chairing a meeting of Parliamentary Committee on the CPEC. Key federal ministers of four provinces and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa are part of it. Both Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan had expressed reservation over the route of the CPEC, alleging that it was diverted to benefit Punjab.

The chief minister said he had faith in the assurance by the prime minister.

He said details of the project would be shared with all stakeholders, adding that the provincial government will “extend full support to CPEC”.

It was decided that the western route for the China Pakistan Economic Corridor will begin construction at the earliest. He said that all the parties are agreed that this project will help in the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.

KP Chief Minister Khattak had also recently warned that his government would not allow CPEC to pass through the province if the centre denied the due share in its route to the them. “There should be institutionalised decision-making through consultations and consensus” he added.
