What does Clinton’s nomination mean for US Democrats?

And, as demonstrated by his “talk” to the Democrat’s national convention Tuesday night following Hillary Rodham Clinton’s nomination for president – in itself an unprecedented accomplishment – he may have lost a bit of his fire and brimstone demeanor, but he can still get his point across.

He said the many speakers who appeared before Clinton addressed delegates at the convention set the tone for her remarks.

Clinton has been a frequent traveler to India and she has several Indian Americans in her campaign staff playing key role in her election strategy and policy making.

Al Jazeera’s Kimberly Halkett reports from Philadelphia.

She has a gift for strategic thinking, seasoned by knowledge and experience.

It marked their third consecutive trip to the Democratic National Convention.

And it’s not just women who are behind her. Benjamin Bodeoeau owns Who’s Next in Palm Springs and said if Europe has female leaders, why can’t America?

While Hillary has copped plenty of backlash over the years, she has also proven to have unwavering resilience – fighting for her dream of being president for almost 10 years.

On January 20, 2017, she could be the first woman to be sworn in as the president of the US. “So I think it’s going to be a really nice thing for women in particular”, said Bodeoeau. In Arkansas, she became a successful partner in a law firm and did not change her last name when she was married; ultimately she took the Clinton name to help her husband regain the gubernatorial seat he lost. She was criticized for having a career when Bill Clinton ran for president and sparked controversy by saying “I suppose I could have stayed home, baked cookies”. She rebounded in popularity – to 56 percent – after she defended her marriage on “60 Minutes” prior to the New Hampshire primary, which most credit with reviving Bill Clinton’s campaign. After the inauguration, her ratings were as high as 67 percent favorable, but took a hit – to 48 percent – when she spearheaded the failed health-care reform effort.

In the end, the most admired women are the ones who challenge gender norms, even if it is unpopular and makes them unpopular.

Sandelands said the league was formed to inform voters about issues, and get them involved in politics and voting.

It’s common to hear women who admire Clinton say the criticism she faces is tinged with sexism. Whether she can make history a second time by winning the presidency may hinge on the extent to which she can win over her critics.

As it stands, Australian women are paid 17.9 per cent less than men for doing exactly the same job – something that many say is just ridiculous and wrong in this day and age. And it is not just about the girls who will grow up with incarnational evidence that they actually can grow up to be anything they aspire to be – yes, even President of the United States.
