What Does Roethlisberger Think Of Wentz?

After two games, Carson Wentz is already being compared to a host of the NFL’s top quarterbacks. “The fact that they’re both very good throwers outside the pocket is a tribute to both of them”.

Pederson and Wentz had more to say about the Steelers, including Wentz weighing in on the comparison to Roethlisberger. “I always found it intriguing the way that guy plays the game differently than a lot of guys, and he’s fun to watch”. The way he makes plays, he can extend plays. “You kind of manage a game and just don’t blow it”, he said.

He has still had the opportunity to spend some time around Wentz, however. The rest is history in the making.

“He’s playing well”, Roethlisberger said. Obviously, he’s a lot younger than I am, but like I said, he’s played two games.

Of course it has only been two games, and those two games (sorry again, Browns fans) were not against great defenses.

Through the first two weeks of the season, Roethlisberger and Wentz have both posted big numbers with quarterback ratings of 95.5 and 94.1, respectively.

It could be the first time Wentz faces adversity, and the Steelers offense could make things hard for an Eagles defense that has some weak points.

“It makes the actual ball feel smaller for practice”, Roethlisberger told ESPN. That Steelers team was built to compete when he got there. I respect his game a ton. But as we suit up our third quarterback in as many games, it still hurts.

The hardest part for Wentz, according to Roethlisberger, will be the toll a long season can take on a rookie.

“Just that longevity. Hitting that rookie wall”, he said when asked about the tests that lie ahead for the rookie QB. “But the thing that I thought was most important, and I try to relay to young quarterbacks, is, don’t try to do too much”, Roethlisberger said during a conference call with the Philadelphia media Wednesday.

But Roethlisberger was able to squeeze in a little career advice. “No matter how much you prepare, no matter how much sleep you get, you’re still coming off a long college season, you’re coming off a long offseason where there really isn’t an offseason because you’re working and preparing for the draft, right into an National Football League season”.
