What exactly is going on in ‘Downtown,’ Macklemore’s weird new song?

Which is probably why Seattle rapper Macklemore chose to recreate the 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr rookie card for a few frames in his latest music video.

On July 23, hundreds lined up on Sprague outside the Fox Theater for a chance to be in Macklemore’s new video. Not only is the song bold, fun and ’80s-inspired, but it also includes guest appearances from Melle Mel, Kool Moe Dee and Grandmaster Caz. News reported.

The album spawned the huge hits “Thrift Shop”, “Can’t Hold Us” and “Same Love”. Inspired by the ride, the MC makes his way to a dealership to buy one of his own. It is an upbeat poppy beat video with weird visuals like riding a motorcycle that looks like it was made out of a moose.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are back, and they’re rolling back into the zeitgeist on a moose-head-adorned moped at 38 miles per hour.
