What Google’s Year in Search Reveals About Humanity
Coming in at No. 1 on two of the key lists – top searches of the year and top people searched – is Lamar Odom, the former National Basketball Association star and Kardashian reality show personality who had a highly publicized drug-related incident at a Nevada brothel in which he nearly died.

This year was one of triumph and tragedy, at least according to Google Search.
“They’re a better indicator at what people are actually searching for in a given year”, said Google spokesman Patrick Lenihan.
Another year, another list of top searches from the world’s most popular search engine. Its annual look back at A Year In Search highlighted what people Googled the most this year, from the Nepal natural disaster to the discovery of water on Mars.
The most searched term in Australia in December was of course Star Wars, with the latest installment of the legendary franchise hitting cinemas today.
Google also broke down its top-trending lists into categories.
Hilariously, ‘Who is the Australian Prime Minister?’ was the seventh most asked question even in the United States, and it’s not a bad one, considering how often it changes.
The year in search, which aims to reflect “the spirit of the times”, is determined by Google searches that had the highest spike in traffic in 2015, as compared to 2014. Other top searches included the top athlete, Ronda Rousey, the top actor, Charlie Sheen, and the top meme going to Pepe the Frog.
