What’s Next For Conor McGregor And Jose Aldo After UFC 194?

Jose Aldo insisted on having a rematch with Conor McGregor after their long-awaited fight on Sunday lasted for only 13 seconds with “The Notorious” Irish knocking out the Brazilian MMA legend with a left hook. “It’s a quick decision, and he was able to connect a good punch when I tried a combination”.

In his first interview following the loss, a heart broken Aldo tells Combate that trying to digest the defeat is a tough thing to do. “We trained hard, did everything right, and the result wasn’t positive”. For now, the world waits on Conor McGregor to make his demands known for who he wants to fight next.

As a fan of the sport and a fighter I shared in the excitement in the lead up to the fight which took place on Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The Nevada Athletic Commission have provisionally suspended 17 fighters, including McGregor on medical grounds.

One fighter, in particular, mirroring those sentiments is former UFC light heavyweight champ Jon “Bones” Jones. For now, Aldo will be using this time to rest, reflect and regroup.

Even if he (or indeed Dana White according to reports) were to ask Conor to vacate the 145lb. belt, Kavanagh says that such a suggestion wouldn’t register with the headstrong Irishman.

Aldo wants a rematch and McGregor seems to have indirectly agreed via the Daily Mail to such, seeing that he was caught up at the moment.

“I do think the next one [fight] will be at lightweight for the belt”, Kavanagh stated. “Not only me but my career speaks for itself”, Aldo said.

“It wasn’t this time, but we will come out victorious, for sure”, Aldo said. “Way stronger. You can be sure that we will come back stronger, more champion than I was before”.

Immediate rematch, or a fight back to the top?
