What’s Next? Jacksonville Jaguars must beat Texans
The Jacksonville Jaguars (1-4) meet the Houston Texans (1-4) looking to snap their three-game losing streak. “That’s where I’ll leave it at that, the play itself if you watched it”. It starts at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, October 18 and can be seen on CBS. Five of last seven meetings have been decided by seven points or less…. Clowney is being given a flier by many as essentially a rookie due to his knee injury last season, but he has only nine tackles and still has yet to register his first career sack.

Both teams hold a 1-4 record this season and an 0-1 mark in divisional play. But the Jaguars are also dealing with several injuries in the backfield that will enable the Texans to unleash their pass rush and create turnovers. Jacksonville looks to use its formidable run defense, which gives up 73.5 rushing yards at home, against the visiting Texans. With the talent to be a contender, the Texans seemed just a quarterback away from making a playoff push again.
As for their opponent, the Texans have 1-4 SU and ATS records this season. Bortles is coming off easily the best game of his career, passing for 303 yards and a career-high four touchdowns. Shifting to the other side of the ball, the Houston defense could excel if they take advantage of favorable matchups.
The Jaguars return home this week following three straight road losses. Jacksonville will have its work cut out for it when Houston comes to returning the ball. He has a 102.6 passer rating in the first half of games compared to 76.1 in the second half.

Even after a dismal 2-14 season in 2013, the Texans had a wait list of 20,000 people for season tickets previous year. The Texans have had a few extra days to prepare following a loss to the Indianapolis Colts last Thursday. The Texans are averaging 300.0 net passing yards and 396.2 total net yards per game this season, which rank fourth and fifth in the league, respectively.
