What’s with the green water in the diving pool?

“Water tests at Maria Lenk Aquatics Centre diving pool have been conducted and there was found to be no risk whatsoever to athletes’ health”, a venue spokesman said. We’re investigating what the cause of the situation was.

Earlier, the BBC had said an official from governing body Fina had claimed the pool had been dyed on goal to reduce glare.

What would happen to you if you dived into the green pool?

Couch and Coulson’s final attempt was poor by comparison, with the duo’s synchronisation letting them down as they scored 63.36 and slipped to fifth – 16.74 points short of Canada.

Chen Ruolin and Liu Huixia added to China’s dominance of the boards, scoring 354.00 points, while silver went to Cheong Jun-hoong and Pamg Pandelela Rinong of Malaysia with 344.34pts.

“When Sarah got I injured I didn’t know what they’d do and when they first put Lois and I together we were all over the place”, said Couch. “I really enjoyed that competition and we ended up getting a PB together so it shows that’s important”. I’m a lot older than her so hopefully I can look after her.

That will be different in Rio and has been noticeable in the slightly calmer build-up from the media towards Couch and her diving team-mates.

“To be honest, it comes naturally, I make sure everyone’s okay anyway”.

“I’m so proud. When I was 16 I was coming last in all competitions”.

But the pair could not lift themselves on to the podium with their final dive – as Tom Daley and Daniel Goodfellow did so dramatically in the men’s event on Monday evening.

“Someone said to my mum, ‘Why doesn’t she try diving?’ and I went off and loved it”.

“I’ve said to her so many times that people are going to have to watch out for this girl”. Winning a medal yesterday made me a little bit more relaxed.

China won their third gold from three events on the diving programme as Great Britain’s Tonia Couch and Lois Toulson finished fifth in the women’s synchronised 10 metres platform final.
