What the fracas in the House says about the Libs
Trudeau apologised for his conduct following an incident in the House Wednesday when he pulled Conservative whip Gord Brown through a clutch of New Democrat MPs to hurry up a vote related to doctor-assisted dying. It was on me, it was my mistake, it was unbecoming of anyone in this House.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau delivered a formal apology in the House of Commons for the Komagata Maru incident which happened almost a century ago.
The row that saw heated words and at least one prime ministerial elbow strike the chest of Ramsey’s NDP caucus mate enraged and astonished the rookie MP, who said she had seen nothing like it during her 19 years working in Windsor’s automotive industry.
“I’m going to apologize again for an incident in the House this evening that might take away a little bit in the news tomorrow, and for some people, the extraordinary celebration that today is, and the important momentous occasion that this day represents, not just in the story of Sikh and southeast Asian Canadians, but in the story of this country”, Trudeau said. “I expect better behaviour of myself”. “We’d like to inform the House that a short while ago, we withdrew motion 6 from the order paper”, Mr. LeBlanc told the Commons.
“I think people understand that there is a tremendous amount of pressures that come with this job and I am human”, Trudeau said in his Parliament Hill office, which was dotted with pictures of Trudeau, his family, and his former prime minister father as well as a Lego canoe with four miniature figures in it.
“For that, I truly regret”.
Rona Ambrose, the interim leader of the Conservatives, said all MPs deserve each other’s respect.
It would have also made it harder for the opposition to surprise the government like they did earlier this week, when the Liberals had to scramble to their seats for a snap vote on proposed changes to Air Canada legislation.
Ms. Ambrose said the Liberals came to power promising “sunny ways, but what we’ve seen, in particular in the last few weeks, is the furthest thing from that”.
In his apology in the House of Commons on Wednesday, Trudeau said: “Canada’s government was, without question, responsible for the laws that prevented these passengers from immigrating peacefully and securely”.
Speaker Geoff Regan concluded Wednesday there was a prima facie case that Brosseau’s privileges as an MP had been breached, which means the encounter will be examined by an all-party committee.
