Instead, a new Trump emerged on Thursday: a less combative, more inclusive candidate who said he was running to be the “voice for every forgotten part of this country that has been waiting and hoping for a better future” and for those who “don’t hear anyone speaking for them”.
Although polls correctly placed Trump at the head of a pack of Republican candidates during the primary season, his supporters now believe those surveys are being manipulated to boost Clinton’s chances.
Despite her lead in the polls, Clinton has struggled to move past the email controversy dogging her presidential campaign.
When pressed a little more McCain said, “I have covered that issue completely and I have nothing more to say about it”.
The campaign said it will spend will spend $4.8 million dollars to air the ad and others over the next 10 days in Ohio, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Florida. According to CNN, solid Republican States are Alabama (9), Alaska (3), Arkansas (6), Idaho (4), IN (11), Kansas (6), Kentucky (8), Louisiana (8), MS (6), Missouri (10), Montana (3), Nebraska (5), North Dakota (3), Oklahoma (7), SC (9), South Dakota (3), Tennessee (11), Texas (38), West Virginia (5), Wyoming (3).
Most national polls now have Hillary Clinton beating her Republican rival in Virginia by double digits, which is likely why the Democratic candidate has suspended her television ad spending in the state.
“It will be a challenge”, said Mickey Kantor, a longtime Clinton supporter who chaired his 1992 campaign.
The Pew Research Center survey finds that if the election were held today, 41% of those surveyed would support Clinton, 37% would support Trump, 10% would back Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson and 4% would back Green Party candidate Jill Stein.
