What to expect from Google’s October 4 event
It’s expected that Google will livestream the announcement via subsidiary YouTube.

“October is coming”, Google tweeted last night alongside the hashtag “#madebygoogle” and a 30-second video showing the Google search bar morphing into the outline of a smartphone.
In two weeks from now we will likely have official confirmation of brand new smartphones from Google, the first to be designed by the company itself. Device fans can enter their email address on the page and click the “Notify Me” to receive updates from Google as the products arrive and are unveiled.
According to Android Police’s David Ruddock, the 5-inch Pixel handset with 32GB of onboard storage will retail for US$649 (RM2,683) in the United States, which makes it exactly the same price as the iPhone 7.
Google has reportedly chose to switch its smartphone brand from Nexus to Pixel.

If these rumors are confirmed, and Google will try to compete with Apple front, which just launched the iPhone 7, the latest version of the phone, and Samsung Galaxy Note 7 which missed its launch due to a recall required by risk of explosion of the battery. Google has offered Android handsets in the past through arrangements with manufacturers such as HTC, Huawei and others, but those handsets were designed by those companies and carried Google Nexus nameplates, without Google’s own designs. Google has been involved in the manufacturing – it’s partnering with HTC – as well as engineering process, and the resulting phones will be premium in terms of materials and price tag, too.
