What we know about Clinton, Orlando shooter’s father

The Republican presidential campaign isn’t the only one afflicted by fumbles and unforced errors.

Seddique Mateen sat among the crowd wearing a red hat Tuesday as Clinton spoke to a large crowd in Kissimmee, Florida, just outside Orlando where the mass shooting happened.

With Foley sitting directly behind him, Trump referenced Mateen at Clinton’s Florida rally-and even said that people sitting that close to the candidate “know the campaign”. GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump argued that had Mateen shown up at one of his rallies, the Republican would be demonized by the media. “If that were me, this would be a headline all over the world about Trump”.

“I know how many people, families, loved ones, and friends are still grieving, and we will be with you as you rebuild your lives.”

Get it, folks? See how Trump joking about the assassination of Hillary Clinton is pretty much the same thing as a guy showing up to a rally that no one could possibly have prevented him from showing up at?

The media seemed eager to move on from another hiccup for the Hillary Clinton campaign this week, dutifully repeating her line that she “disavows” the support of Seddique Mateen, the father of an Islamic terrorist.

Clinton had previously put out a statement calling the rally an “open-door event for the public”, and adding that, “This individual wasn’t invited as a guest and the campaign was unaware of his attendance until after the event”.

After the second game of the 1919 World Series, where the Chicago White Sox threw games in the infamous “Black Sox” scandal, sports writer Ring Lardner walked into the White Sox dressing room derisively singing, “I’m forever blowing ballgames”.

I’ve kind of felt the same way watching Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump run for president.

“When you get those seats, you sort of know the campaign”.

Addressing supporters at a rally in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the real estate tycoon said the jihadist group is “honouring President Obama”. Why should this be different?

Omar Mateen was shot and killed in the early morning hours of June 12 after opening fire on a near-capacity crowd at the Orlando nightclub. Mateen even took photographs of Clinton with his cell phone and gave an interview to a local TV station after the rally.

For some nefarious objective, the Clinton campaign made a conscious, deliberate decision to highlight the support of Mateen during a speech in which Clinton paid tribute to his son’s victims. May the least inept candidate win, or something.
