What we learned: Raiders rally to defeat Chargers in OT
It wasn’t meant for Charles Woodson to play the hero Thursday night, so a grateful supporting cast chipped in to send him out a victor before the home fans in a 23-20 overtime win over the San Diego Chargers at O.co Coliseum.

On third-and-8 from the San Diego 43, Carr completed a 33-yard pass to wide receiver Seth Roberts, giving Oakland a first down and setting up Janikowski’s chip shot.
Some fans came with “Stay in Oakland” signs in hopes that the team does not leave the Bay Area for the second time. Woodson got a Gatorade shower and then led the fans in a chant of “Rai-ders!”
The game is being broadcast on the NFL Network and CBS. Most of the game offered little inspiration, especially on offense.
Prior to the game, Charles Woodson told his teammates that tonight’s home finale was “bigger than me, it’s bigger than you, but it ain’t bigger than us”.
“But that’s the way it goes sometimes”.
The win improves Oakland’s record to 7-8 on the season, while San Diego drops to 4-11 as the Raiders swept the season series from their hated rivals for the first time since 2010.
National Football League owners have a special meeting next month to discuss relocation, which could see the Raiders and Chargers share a new Los Angeles stadium.
But Oakland did move the ball in overtime after winning the toss.
And it was about the Raiders fighting through every bit of that and defeating San Diego 23-20 in overtime at the Coliseum.
Danny Woodhead also had a decent game with 108 yards on 19 touches on the other side. After Woodson lost 3 yards on a reverse when San Diego covered a possible pass to Carr in the end zone, Janikowski hit the go-ahead field goal. Nonetheless head coach Jack Del Rio honored Woodson even within the name of the play they ran unsuccessfully Del Rio stated they have been awaiting alternative to run play for Woodson on offense. He’s a great Raiders.
Thursday’s game was the last home contest for any of the three teams eyeing the L.A. market. I just had to beat one guy.
This was the seventh straight division loss for the Chargers, who have fallen quite a ways in just a few years.
The AFC West still has the San Diego Chargers’ number. “Doesn’t make it any easier losing another one like that”.
The Raiders had done nothing offensively for most of the night when the defense gave them a needed spark. However, Oakland linebacker Malcolm Smith forced a fumble, and defensive end Benson Mayowa recovered it and returned 41 yards to the 3.
The next play, Rivers went deep to Ladarius Green for an apparent touchdown, but a replay review ruled it incomplete for hitting the ground. He also threw to Roberts for the two-point conversion and suddenly the Raiders owned a 20-17 lead with 4:47 to play.

Lambo equalized on a 45-yard field goal with 55 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to force overtime. Offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave hinted earlier this week that retiring safety Charles Woodson might get a chance to play wide receiver in the future Hall of Famer’s “Black Hole” sendoff.
