WhatsApp for iPhone gets upbeat with Siri Integration and Quick Forward button

Alongside Apple’s announcement last week on what exactly will be packed into the new iPhone 7, the next item on the agenda that excited Apple fans was the announced overhaul of the iOS operating system. However, none thought that so many issues would actually cause Apple to issue iOS 10.0.1 on the very same day.

Most of the upgrades are only available if you’ve updated your iPhone to iOS 10. The issue was fortunately corrected early on without Apple having to delay the update. “The problem was quickly resolved and we apologize to those customers”, an Apple spokesperson told The Verge.

They said the bug left them unable to use their phones if the software update was completed by downloading it directly onto the phone, rather than through iTunes, Apple’s music playback and management platform.

When that’s done, set up your device and restore everything from when you’ve backed up your phone with iTunes or iCloud.

Connect the phone to iTunes and force restart the handset by pressing the Sleep and Home buttons.

The iOS keyboard has been given a similar intelligence boost, Apple says, and is now able to better understand context as you type, including showing you a snapshot of your calendar as you discuss making plans with contacts.

What’s more, the update won’t work on the oldest iPads – iOS 10 users must have an iPad 4th generation, iPad Air, iPad mini 2, iPad Pro 9.7-inch or any subsequent models for the update to work.

Owners of iPhones, iPads and even some iPod touch devices will be able to get the update, which is expected to be made available at around 6pm United Kingdom time on 13 September.

Connect the iOS device to your PC or Mac. Gone is the familiar “slide to unlock” method, replaced by the combination of Touch ID and the press of the home button.

“Looks like I bricked both iPhone and iPad with iOS update”, Canadian tech entrepreneur Roustern Karimov posted on Twitter, joining a sizable group of angry Apple patrons grumbling about the update online.
