WhatsApp Gets Message Quotes and Replies

Imagine a scenario where you’re not caught up yet and want to reply to a single message; with this new feature, it’ll become much easier to pinpoint something more specific and bring the discussion back where you want it to. This helps if you’re late in replying and it helps to give some context as to what you are replying too. WhatsApp beta version 2.16.118 comes with a new reply button, which lets you reply with a quoted text, Android Police reports.

The latest beta version of WhatsApp reveals an interesting new feature.

As it turns out, WhatsApp is now testing the message quotes and replies feature for Android users. However the feature is now in beta which means that unless you’re participating in the beta, you won’t see it until it is released to the masses. Users can quote other participants in the group chats, other users in individual chats and can quote themselves as well. After you’re done with all that, simply send the message, and voila, your message will be sent along with the message you replied to, which will be quoted, of course.

WhatsApp is continuously updating new features on its messaging platform. Moreover, the recipients will also be able to differentiate as to which message is for them and which is not. The quoted message shows inside the box with a preview.

Quoted messages are a feature that allows users to select replies from a conversation and incorporate them into their own replies, with the option to add some more text to them. This is similar to the quote option you get on Twitter while retweeting a tweet.

So how does this quote and reply thing work? When you hit send, your message will be shown along with the preview.
