According to the reports unveiled by the WABetaInfo, WhatsApp would again be permitting the users to download all sorts of deleted media files like videos, voice messages, documents, images and GIFs from the app’s servers. The report further adds the feature was introduced in WhatsApp recent update between version 2.18.106 and 2.18.110.

This new feature will let users retrieve data that has been deleted months before re-downloading it. If you’re among the selective users, this feature would be already available for you as of this writing. It has made a decision to store all the messages and multimedia content on its server even if it is downloaded by the user.
Interestingly, WhatsApp has already spoken out about privacy to reassure users that the content of their messages can not be intercepted but WhatsApp, Facebook or anyone else because of the secure end-to-end encryption. However, with very old media, say August 2017, the feature does not work as the message service suggest to ask the sender to send the media file again.
You can download the latest version of WhatsApp for Android through the Play Store.
“What I found most worrisome is that WhatsApp’s group chat feature allows any group member to mine data like Cambridge Analytica, and what is worse, they reveal mobile numbers”. “You start thinking about the potential breaches that could happen, as we saw with Facebook, so we should take the lead”.
WhatsApp had earlier rolled out its UPI based payments feature in India for select beta testers.
Late last week, ZDNet also reported the French government wanted to replace its use of apps like Telegram – which president Emmanuel Macron is apparently a big fan of.
Notably, WhatsApp beta users might have noticed a bug affecting the timestamp of chats on the app on version 2.18.109.
WhatsApp will be saving these media files in their servers for a much longer time.

Any Android users can sign-up to become a beta tester. The new features are aimed at offering an earlier and more intuitive experience to the users. The app, however, can download media for the messages dating back to nearly a year.
