When will Donald Trump announce his VP pick?

According to the New York Times, the Trump campaign “has signaled strongly to Republicans in Washington that he will pick Mike Pence”.

Donald Trump was expected to formally announce Pence as his running mate in a news conference Friday.

Mr Trump hopes Mr Pence can help him appeal to the party’s conservatives.

Frustration among Trump and his advisers mounted because of news reports that Pence was the pick, sending top aides scrambling to insist no final decision had been made.

Still, Pence hasn’t walked in lock step with the presumptive nominee.

Some delegates said the Trump campaign and top GOP officials were trying to see if they could strike a compromise with conservatives trying to let delegates back any candidate they want and offering other rules changes.

Gingrich, who has been active on the social media venue, hosted a Facebook Live event with Trump earlier this month.

It could herald another twist in this year’s campaign saga, with Trump turning a corner of sorts after a painful two months of gaffes and distractions, even as Hillary Clinton takes her turn for a thumping at the polls in the wake of the FBI’s scathing verdict on her “extremely careless” handling of classified materials when she was secretary of state.

Others, like Joseph Greenwell, weren’t so sure Pence would end up on the ticket.

Asked whether the terror attack influenced his VP selection, Trump denied that it had: “No, absolutely not”.

The two appeared to get along well, and Trump teased the crowd in Westfield, Ind., “I don’t know if he’s going to be your governor or your vice president, who the hell knows!”
