Temperatures early Saturday and Sunday will fall well below zero, with highs on Saturday not topping zero in northern and high altitude areas of the region.

Wind chills in this cold can bring on frostbite in as little as 10 minutes, the NWS said, so outdoor exposure should be limited.

The Weather Service is forecasting 5 to 10 inches on Friday and 2 to 4 inches on Friday night, leading to storm totals of 7 to 14 inches in the most persistent lake snows.
