Where in the world is Santa? Michelle Obama and NORAD know
Microsoft once again partnered with the North American Aerospace Defense Command on an interactive website at noradsanta.org where Santa s reindeer-drawn sleigh can be seen making its way over countries around the world. The commander on duty who answered the phone that night gave the child the information requested – the whereabouts of Santa.

NORAD says on it’s website that a mistake led to the birth of its Santa tracker.
Technicians in Canada and the United States would report so-called sightings of a sleigh full of toys being pulled about by flying reindeer. All aircraft are reported to have a unique code to identify themselves.
Luckily, Santa is good at keeping in touch with NORAD, Gordinier said. In the event that an aircraft does not have a code, NORAD can send out jets to identify the aircraft.
Shortly before 11 a.m. ET, Santa was headed for Singapore and had delivered more than 1.4 billion presents. He then works his way west in the Northern and Southern hemispheres.

NORAD has 157 telephone lines and hundreds of volunteers on call, which includes first lady Michelle Obama.
While NORAD has been offering the Santa tracker for 50 years, California tech giant Google began tracking Santa’s movements 11 years ago. “Santacams” stream videos from various locations.
The group said a department store mistakenly printed NORAD’s phone number in an ad for contacting Santa Claus, leading to numerous phone calls to the Continental Air Defense in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
