While champions fall, Lawler tries to keep belt vs Condit
The two veteran welterweights brought a total of more than 70 combined pro fights and 27 years of cage experience to Las Vegas, Nevada’s MGM Grand Garden Arena. Though, Lawler’s devastating power means he can change the direction of a fight with just one punch. Insane action here and Lawler has Condit hurt again, but in the final seconds of the round he can’t find that knockout blow so we are headed to the judges. Condit will be up for the challenge, but Lawler hits hard and it’s hard to take his punishment for 25 minutes.

Lawler connects with a strike as Condit comes in and that makes him pause for a brief moment.
“He comes from one of the best camps in the world, he had a great game plan, we battled it out, there were two winners tonight”.
Sims (12-3-0) learned how to fight against someone who shies away from stand up fighting and has worked on defending off the cage and feels confident heading into his fight against Trujillo (12-7-0). “I don’t know. I came up short tonight”.
“Carlos is a kickboxer and he’s got a little bit of different style”, explains Lawler. “I felt I had three rounds in the bag, but that’s why you don’t leave it to the judges”.
The difference was the third round. “Let’s do it again”, Lawler said in the post-fight interview. “He was tough as hell, technical as hell and he’s in shape”.
UFC 189 was the card of the year and this pair of bantamweights almost stole the show. I doubt that he does come back, but yeah I would venture to guess the UFC would give him an immediate title shot.
“The way these guys go out and perform, each time they go out there is what makes them fan favorites”, said Woodley, who was granted the title shot after would-be UFC 192 opponent Johny Hendricks had a weight cut that went awry and was pulled from their bout. While one can infer that Condit did indeed have a stronger claim to victory than Lawler, the difference was not so overwhelming that a decision breaking in Lawler’s favor should lead to torches and pitchforks.
It was the fifth straight UFC win for Tumenov, who limped badly on a swollen left leg as he exited the cage.
“I’ve been at this for a long time, over 40 professional MMA and kickboxing (fights)”.
“Personally, I think he can do it”, St. Leger said.
Carlos Condit has gone a combined 5-1 in title fights. As heavyweight fights often go, this one ended quick as Miocic finished the former champion with punches in the first round. “I’m ready to go-the hay is in the barn and I can’t wait”. His 67% takedown defense is still out of the top-10 amongst active UFC welterweights (number ten on the list, Sean Spencer, is 72%). The fight has really heated up in this final round.
It was a rematch four years in the making after the two fought to a thrilling no contest in 2011. Westcott took Garcia down and overwhelmed him with strikes on the ground.
Brian Ortega notched up a handsome submission victory over Diego Brandao after trapping the Brazilian in a Triangle choke in the third round. I fought my ass off. So I’m disappointed, but I’m proud of my performance.
This fight was 73 seconds of heavyweight chaos. Holtzman immediately begins throwing punches and elbows.
“My nose is crushed for sure”. “He needed to get that fire lit under his ass”. “He’s never in a boring fight. It’s just constantly believing, even when things aren’t going well, that there is hope”.
In his highly anticipated return, former bantamweight contender Michael “Mayday” McDonald steps in as a heavy favorite against Japan’s Masanori Kanehara to headline the UFC 195 prelims on Fox Sports 1.
31-year-old Condit has been competing professionally for 13 years, but is arguably at his peak right now.
“So I went to Jackson’s in Albuquerque for a couple of weeks, then I went to Australia to train”.

“I’ve made a career of taking a lot of pleasure in proving doubters wrong”, he said.
