White House delays imposing new sanctions on Iran
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has issued an order calling on the country’s Defense Ministry to expedite efforts for boosting the country’s missile power as reports emerge of U.S. plans for imposing fresh sanctions on Tehran over the issue, Press TV reported. At that point, in line with another Security Council resolution, passed immediately after the summer’s nuclear deal, Iran will be “called upon” to refrain for up to eight years from any work on ballistic missiles created to carry nuclear weapons. The material is an important component for developing missiles.

The notification, according to a copy seen by The Wall Street Journal, quoted the Treasury’s top sanctions official, acting Undersecretary Adam Szubin, saying, “Iran’s ballistic missile program poses a significant threat to regional and global security”.
A United Nations panel ruled this month that the October launch violated a U.N. Security Council resolution that bans Iran’s development of ballistic-missile systems.
With these revelations, can we expect Iran to be cooperative partners as the Iran Deal goes into effect?
“Such actions are unilateral, arbitrary and illegal and the Islamic Republic of Iran has warned the U.S.in this respect”, Iranian spokesman Hossein Jaberi Ansari said, according to state-controlled Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
Missiles with a 5,000-kilometer range would be able to threaten the United States air base in Diego Garcia which was used for Operation Eagle Claw, the former commander stated.
The Iranian missiles under development boast much improved accuracy over the current generation, which experts say is likely to improve their effectiveness with conventional warheads.
Earlier, a total of 11 tons of low-enriched uranium has been shipped to Russian Federation from Iran while Norway has helped verify a shipment of 60 tons of raw uranium to Iran, as part of the nuclear deal.
“There has been no interruption in the process of designing and manufacturing defensive ballistic missiles”, Dehqan said, adding that the Iranian armed forces will employ all indigenous potential and equipment to strengthen the country’s defense power, regardless of what foreigners say or do. The Obama administration opposes the legislation.
But on Thursday the newspaper said the measures had been delayed – although they remain on the table – over fears the nuclear deal could be derailed.

Gen Sharif, however, accused the United States of lying about the incident, which was reported to have occurred after Iranian naval forces announced via radio that the test-firing would occur. He said so far the administration has not taken such action despite acknowledging Iran’s violation of the UNSC resolution.
