According to Yahoo News, the incident occurred at a time when President Obama and his family were at the White House celebrating Thanksgiving, as per to his public schedule.

So many people have tried to jump over the fence in the past two years that in July the Secret Service added metal spikes onto the fence surrounding the White House, which frequently locks down when suspicious items or people make their way onto the lawn. “I heard him take a deep breath and say, ‘All right, let’s do this'”. “Caputo was immediately apprehended and taken into custody”, the Secret Service said in a statement. “It was chaotic. Everyone around us was yelling and kids were crying”.
The White House was under a lockdown on Thursday after one person successfully jumped the highly guarded fence.
Officers can be seen guarding the entrance and surrounding area before the lockdown is later lifted.

The US Secret Service is recovering from a series of embarrassing security breaches.
And in the same month a man wearing a Pikachu hat and carrying a plush doll of the Pokemon jumped the fence and walked on to the North Lawn.
