People gather around a demonstrator speaking about his encounter with attackers who were shooting at five protesters near the Minneapolis Police 4th Precinct earlier in the night, as protesters gather in front of the… “I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, like surely you’re not shooting at people”, Jie Wronski-Riley, an activist on the scene, told the Star Tribune.

Several protesters had followed the masked men to a street corner, after the men left the encampment, and the masked men then fired on them, according to Omeoga.

Wilson said he couldn’t see which officer shot Clark. Police have disputed that, and two investigations are underway. Though no one sustained life-threatening injuries, at least one is in critical condition.

Protests erupted following the shooting after some witnesses said Clark was handcuffed and not resisting when he was shot.

The victims, all black men, were taken to hospitals with noncritical injuries, according to police. They signed off with the words “Stay white”.

Impassioned speeches from pastors and Jamar Clark’s relatives were occasionally interrupted by shouts and applause inside the cavernous Shiloh Temple International Ministries.

A group of campaigners suffered shot wounds while demonstrating against the fatal shooting of an unarmed young black man earlier this month. An FBI spokesperson said the bureau is working with local police to determine if a hate crime occurred and whether federal intervention is needed.

Similarly, officials have seized upon the Monday shootings to bolster the image of the police in the wake of the outrage over Jamar Clark’s killing.

The activists, who have been stationed at the site for a week, are refusing to leave the Minneapolis police station until their demands are met, which include the release of police video tapes of the Clark killing, and the prosecution of the two police officers, Mark Ringgenberg and Dustin Schwarze, involved in man’s death.

The witness said a demonstrator came out of the crowd and punched one of the white men, and another man stepped back and reached toward his waistband.

Keith Ellison’s office, Clark’s family thanked protesters for their “incredible support” but asked, in light of the shootings, that the demonstration outside the precinct offices end and protesters move “onto the next step”.

Grimm said protesters had been threatened by one group online and had been working with hackers to figure out the group’s plans.

Some protesters criticized the police response time and said officers arrived in full riot gear. Police say Clark was in the process of getting control of one of an officer’s gun when he was shot once in the head.

No suspects are in custody. Dozens of officers tended to victims, but the suspects fled.
