If the Chicago White Sox can get anywhere near that from the former Baltimore starter signed to a minor league deal April 3, they should be in good shape for his home debut Saturday against the Kansas City Royals. Both players fell to the ground, and Gordon landed against the tarpaulin.

Lorenzo Cain scored Kansas City’s second run with a leadoff homer in the sixth inning. Wolters was given an RBI single and Jaso was charged with an error – the Pirates’ third – for allowing Descalso to score. Alex Gordon led off with a single, followed by a double by the red-hot Paulo Orlando.
The Royals had sliced into the lead in the top of the sixth, manufacturing a run on two hits and a sacrifice fly from Omar Infante.

Royals: Gordon’s status was said to be day-to-day. “You know, I think he knows what he needs to do”. That’s why I was kind of taking it slow. “I’m just letting the defense play”.
For Gordon, the start of the 2016 season has not been a pleasant ride. He is 3-0 in four home starts but 1-3 in five road games. On Sunday, he finished 1 for 3.
His production has waned and his team’s offense has suffered. Both remained in the game, and Whit Merrifield pinch hit for Gordon the next inning.
