White Sox complete sweep of Rangers, improve to 13

The White Sox pulled off the first 9-3-2-6-2-5 triple play in Major League history in the seventh inning of yesterday’s 5-0 win over the Texas Rangers. Navarro’s sac fly added another run.Navarro’s first home run of the season tied it 1-1 in the third.Navarro is now Chicago’s regular catcher after Alex Avila went on the disabled list Sunday for a strained right hamstring.Nomar Mazara hit his second home run, a solo shot, for a 1-0 Rangers’ lead in the first.

However, through the first 18 games of the 2016 season, the White sox have shocked many people in the league, now holding a record of 12-6, which puts them in first place in the AL Central over the 2015 World Series Champion Kansas City Royals. They scored only four runs between three games including the first game where they were shutout.

While the White Sox look to end their struggles against Colby Lewis, they hope Carlos Rodon can rebound from the shortest start of his young career Saturday.

Corey Dickerson, Steve Pearce and Logan Forsythe also homered for Tampa Bay as the team hit five home runs in a game for the first time since June 29, 2014, at Baltimore.

A play that began as an innocent line drive to White Sox right fielder Adam Eaton ended as a triple play and an embarrassment for the Rangers. “Just go up there and throw the ball”.

A night after Jake Arrieta no-hit the Reds in a 16-0 demolition, the Cubs were comfortable winners once again as Jon Lester pitched seven strong innings and delivered a squeeze bunt, while Anthony Rizzo and Javier Baez homered.

The Rangers’ Adrian Beltre started his 2,500th game at third base.

“You’re always looking for a silver lining that makes you feel good, ” manager Robin Ventura said.

Chicago (14-5) scored a combined 38 runs in the four-game series and now heads back to Wrigley Field off to their best start since 1969.

This might be the weirdest triple play you’ll ever see. Lawrie doubled to center, Me.Cabrera to third. Chicago outscored the Rangers 13-4 in the series, giving Texas its first sweep since last July, when the Los Angeles Angels won three straight in Arlington, Texas.

“[To] kind of find out that Beltre and Fielder were kind of going back and forth there?”

Texas managed few of either – 20 hits and four runs – during a weekend it would rather forget.

White Sox: C Dioner Navarro was attended to, but stayed in after Ryan Rua’s foul tip ripped off his mask in the second. He was expected to get 35 to 45 at-bats there. In more than 100 years of baseball, that is the first time that has happened. The big news of the day, however, might be the continued success of Matt Bush, who threw two scoreless innings. Sands grounded out, third baseman Beltre to first baseman Moreland.
