White Sox send Chris Sale home for ‘clubhouse incident’
After Chris Sale’s locker room fiasco in which he destroyed the team’s throwback uniforms so they didn’t have to wear them, the team brass has not indicated what they will do.

Then, the news and official statement from the White Sox of Chris Sale being scratched from his start on Saturday due to a “non-physical clubhouse incident”. This was an extremely unprofessional move on Sale’s part, so you can definitely understand why the front office elected to send their ace pitcher home for the evening. Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports that the lefty described the franchise as more concerned with marketing gimmick jerseys than with winning games and that he found the pullovers uncomfortable to wear.
Tommy Stokke of FanRag Sports cited a source who said the “blowup was because he didn’t want to wear throwbacks, so he cut the jerseys up so no one could wear them”.
Sale had been shown as the starter on the scoreboard until about 15 minutes before the scheduled first pitch, which was delayed 10 minutes by rain. Albers said he was informed about 2 hours before the game that he would start.
Sale reportedly wasn’t comfortable in the uniform and became upset when the team refused to change its plans to use them.
“Proud of them for stepping up and filing in and doing what they had to do”, Ventura said.
Matt Albers started instead of Sale and was booed by the crowed when his name was announced, according to ESPN.
The 27-year-old Sale was the 13th overall pick out of Florida Gulf Coast in 2010 and has been selected as an All-Star five times.
The Boston Red Sox and Texas Rangers have been two of teams linked frequently with star left-hander Chris Sale.
What Sale seems to have done on Saturday afternoon is childish and not what you would expect from an ace and the starter for the American League in the All-Star game. He was set to pitch on Saturday night for the Chicago White Sox in their meeting with the Detroit Tigers.
Sale, who is 71-43 in his career, entered the day leading the majors with 133 innings pitched and three complete games.
Tigers G.M. Al Avila said before the game that many teams were looking for starting pitching. “And the guys that may come available are going to come at a steep price”.
Apparently this isn’t the first time a Sox player has taken issue with the team’s lamentable ’70s throwbacks.
