White Sox suspend Sale five days for outburst

Sale might still be available for trade as the 2016 Major League Baseball trade deadline on August 1st rapidly approaches, but don’t think for a second that Sale’s throwback jersey destruction is going to drop his perceived trade value in the slightest. The White Sox had chose to wear their throwback uniforms yesterday, which Sale finds uncomfortable and had repetitively asked the team not to wear during his starts.

White Sox pitcher Chris Sale has been suspended for five days after Saturday’s “clubhouse incident”. The White Sox recorded two walk-off wins in the same day for the first time since October 3, 1991, against the Minnesota Twins. “If he wants to play with no shirt, we play with no shirt”. It turns out Sale wasn’t happy that the White Sox wanted to use throwback uniforms that featured collars.

Meanwhile, veteran teammates such as James Shields and Todd Frazier spoke in support of Sale.

After those two defeats given up by the bullpen, one can’t fault Justin Verlander if he tries to pitch a complete game when the Tigers open up a three-game series in Boston against the Red Sox on Monday evening.

‘It does not move the needle one iota in terms of his value, his value to any other club that may be interested in his services or the likelihood of him being moved or kept whatsoever’.

When the situation escalated to a member of the front office, Sale was scratched from Saturday’s start and sent home from U.S. Cellular Field. He added that Sale likely felt that the team was prioritizing jersey sales and PR more than the team winning and his comfort.

There hasn’t been much love for the White Sox since a 23-10 start.

“It’s different”, Robertson said.

This is not the first controversy for Sale or for the team this year. The tone of the discussion was “calm and rational”, Hahn said, and Sale never requested a trade despite disagreeing with management’s perspective on the uniforms. He also declined to talk about Sale’s situation directly.

Sale stood up for LaRoche and Drake, and said Williams had “bold-faced” lied to the team about where the order to limit Drake’s time in the clubhouse came from. “It’s absurd that I pitched that poorly”. He allowed three hits, walked one and struck out four as he recorded his 14th quality start in 20 outings this season.

“I’ve seen a lot of insane things happen in the game, but sometimes emotions get the best of us”, he said. “If you want to rip it after, you can rip it up after”.
