White Sox To Call Up Top Prospect Carson Fulmer

The White Sox first-round pick in 2015 (eighth overall) from Lakeland, Florida, by way of Vanderbil, came from a pro-ready program and will make his major league debut at 22 years old when he enters his first game.

Sox manager Robin Ventura spoke last week about the possibility of adding Fulmer for a relief role.

Atlanta Braves top prospect Dansby Swanson, Fulmer’s college teammate at Vanderbilt, took to Twitter on Friday morning to congratulate Fulmer.

A career.282 hitter with 241 home runs and 960 RBI, Morneau is a former MVP and four-time All-Star with the Minnesotat Twins.

Morneau won the 2014 NL batting title when he hit.319 for Colorado.

Morneau, 35, agreed to terms on a one-year contract on June 9 and has been recovering from offseason surgery to fix the primary flexor in his left elbow. He has a 4-9 record and 4.76 ERA in 17 starts while striking out 90 batters in 87 innings.

Between Vanderbilt and the White Sox farm system last season, Fulmer threw 150.2 innings and now sits at 87 innings this season.

“I’m just getting ahead”, Fulmer told MiLB.com last weekend. “I’m just coming out with a strike-one mentality and just pounding the strike zone”. The Sox 40-man roster is at 40.
