White Sox to change stadium name after 2016 season

It took White Sox fans awhile to get use to calling their home ballpark U.S. Cellular Field or “The Cell” after previously playing in Comiskey Park.
Nonbank lender Guaranteed Rate has scored a naming rights deal with the Chicago White Sox. The deal was approved by the ballpark’s owner, the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority, at a board meeting Wednesday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but part of the partnership includes additional sponsorship and branding between the White Sox and Guaranteed Rate.
Eaton launched his eighth triple of the season off the left field wall – extending a career high – to lead off the White Sox first. That’s because the big move is a new name for the team’s home stadium, and much like when it made the transition from Comiskey Park to U.S. Cellular Field in 2003, this new moniker is a definite downgrade.
It’s not all bad news, though, as the team’s agreement with Guaranteed Rate only goes through 2030.
White Sox: RHP Anthony Ranaudo (1-1, 9.42) makes his third start for the White Sox as Chicago opens a four-game series against the Seattle Mariners.
The Chicago White Sox just announced a significant change.
“We talked about it”, Guaranteed Rate President and CEO Victor Ciardelli said.
Fans across Twitter and Facebook aren’t too happy with the name either.
“There’s times where a team will hit him around and he’s been able to fight his way back”, White Sox manager Robin Ventura said.

Nova (10-6) struck out six, walked one and threw 69 of his 98 pitches for strikes while improving to 3-0 in four starts since being acquired from the New York Yankees in an August 1 trade. He was batting.189 with two doubles, one home run and three RBIs over three stints with the White Sox.
