Whitehurst helps Colts beat Dolphins 18-12
That’s probably a good sign, but it still sounds very much uncertain whether Luck will play. Indianapolis has the Miami Dolphins on Sunday and the Titans on January 3.

The Colts are fighting for the AFC South lead and will face the Dolphins on Sunday.
Whitehurst was hurt late in Sunday’s game as he scrambled and fell awkwardly toward the sideline. On the five-yard line, only down six points with 30 seconds remaining on the clock and Miami still couldn’t come through with the win. There were two sacks each by Kendall Langford, Robert Mathis and T.Y. McGill.
“I feel for him”. “We just need to win, because I don’t want to sit back and go, ‘Oh damn, I didn’t know this was going to happen or that was going to happen.’ Anything can happen”.
“I was running a route, and the guy ran into me”, Landry said. So I can relate to him.
Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill, with 22 touchdowns, 11 interceptions and an 87.1 passer rating, doesn’t necessarily have better numbers than a year ago, but interim coach Dan Campbell said he still made improvement. “There are enough mistakes to go around, offensively and defensively”.
Campbell was right because the way that the Dolphins played was pathetic.
-Right tackle Ja’Wuan James (toe) had full participation in Wednesday’s practice and has a decent chance of playing Sunday for the first time in eight weeks.
The Dolphins couldn’t beat a third-string QB. It’s been a rough year overall for them, as head coach Joe Philbin was sacked just four games into the season. Miami’s only big run of the game was a 28-yard scramble by Tannehill on the final drive.
The best teams and the best quarterbacks – New England and Tom Brady being the prime example – excel despite constant turnover on the offensive line.
The ill-fated shotgun snap is what will stand out from Douglas’ day, but the rookie said – that play aside – he was satisfied with his performance in his first start at center. It took the Dolphins nearly two-quarters to score their first points because the Colts played serious red zone defense.
After three Tannehill incomplete passes, the Dolphins’ offensive line had an obvious miscommunication on fourth down.
The team (7-8) is holding onto slim playoff hopes.
And it’s not as if the blunder cost the Dolphins a playoff berth. Why not start preparing for the next season?
Is Tannehill actually a bright spot?
There’s another subplot to the game: The Titans have the inside track for the No. 1 pick in the draft. James would replace reserve Jason Fox in the starting lineup. The second-year tackle has been out since Week 8 with a toe injury, but he has given the Dolphins reason to believe he can do the job when he’s 100 percent.
