The stakes are high: A loss to Trump would not only end Clinton’s political career, it could be a devastating coda to her and her husband’s political legacy and leave the Democratic Party weaker than it has been in a generation.
“Given the mass walk-outs, protests, and the fact she was booed 18 times at her acceptance speech, it would seem Hillary Clinton ought to be focusing on locking down her base”, Michael Short, spokesman for the Republican National Convention said.
“She’s been in the public eye now for nearly 25 years”, said Castro, “and so part of the challenge is, that people are not suddenly going to think of you in a totally different way…”
“I’ve been saying let’s just beat her on November 8”, he said, “but you know what?”

But it’s this number that has Clinton’s strategist seeing inroads with Republicans: 17% of Republican registered voters in CNN’s latest poll had an unfavorable view of Donald Trump and 23% of registered voters who identify as conservative said the same.
And Clinton offered an open hand to backers of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT). The controversy led to the resignation of Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the chair of the party’s national committee. Democrats contrasted their optimistic message with the more troubled vision of the state of the nation presented by Trump and others at the GOP convention a week earlier.
The America Rising super PAC called out Kaine for “flip-flopping” on a number of issues in recent days.
Joined on the bus tour by her husband, Bill Clinton, running mate Tim Kaine and his wife, Anne Holton, Clinton stopped at a toy and plastics manufacturer in Hatfield, Pennsylvania, where she and Kaine cast Trump as a con artist out for his own gain. The new ticket is then planning to embark on a three-day bus trip through the battleground states of Pennsylvania and Ohio. That demographic has eluded Clinton and was unlikely to be swayed by a Democratic convention that heavily celebrated racial and gender diversity. Today, he says he realized that “we can not discriminate against people” and he says that Clinton feels he’s a progressive, but also a “practical”.
Their goal is to turn out the coalition of minority, female and young voters that twice elected Barack Obama while offsetting expected losses among the white men drawn to Trump’s message. He described the Republican gathering as “dark and depressing”.
“I’m not saying that it won’t be relatively close”, said Bottenfield. “Your cause is our cause”.
Those voters who feel left behind by the economic recovery have especially deep suspicions of globalization and trade deals and wary of Kaine and Clinton, who formerly backed the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal but now say it failed in its final version to meet a “gold standard”.
