NEW YORK (AP) – “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has sent a box office record with an estimated $57 million from Thursday night shows. The Force Awakens shattered its first record with advanced ticket sales, reportedly selling eight times as many tickets than the previous record holder, The Hunger Games, to the tune of million. ‘ “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” in July 2011.

In what is arguably the least surprising news of the year (even less surprising than Adele’s billion broken records), Star Wars: The Force Awakens has had the biggest opening day in United Kingdom box office history.
Lucasfilm Daisy Ridley and John Boyega star in the seventh installment of the “Star Wars” franchise. The film will be in a total of 4,134 locations on Friday – a record for a December opening.
According to industry journal Screen International, though, such an outcome “remains a distinct possibility” given the film’s current box office performance.
So far, the Disney film has pulled in roughly $130 million worldwide since opening overseas on Wednesday.
Box office analysts expect it to make around $200m (£134m) over its opening weekend, a total that could challenge the record Jurassic World set earlier this year.
France generated $5.2 million in ticket sales, Italy $2 million and Sweden $1.7 million.
“Force Awakens” surpassed the previous opening day record of $43.5 million set in 2011 by the final “Harry Potter” movie.
