“He has kept me informed all the way along”.

Meanwhile, Light has been an outspoken advocate for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community for quite a few time, as evidenced by her involvement with the Matthew Shepard Foundation, the Point Foundation, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and other organizations. Danny recalls how his readiness to experiment led to a drug-fueled sexual encounter, Pintauro said, with a man whose name he did not know.

“I was doing crystal meth, which completely ruins your immune system”, Pintauro said.

“I’m HIV-positive and I have been for 12 years”, said Pintauro who came out as gay years ago. “It’s not something that people are talking about right now really”, he said. Revealing the very personal details of his heart-wrenching struggles that come with being diagnosed HIV positive, the 39-year-old former child actor also discussed the epidemic of crystal meth use within the gay community. Describing how he felt, Danny admitted that he thought no one would desire to be with him, and Pintauro also shared that he instantly revealed his diagnosis immediately prior to even kissing his now-husband on their first date. The “Law And Order” actress Light advised Pintauro that he could not be misquoted by the press as long as his responses were “responsible and mature”.

Right now, Danny Pintauro is planning to use his HIV-positive diagnosis to “make a difference” as an activist. In 1997, Danny Pintaurocame out publicly as gay after the tabloid National Enquirer threatened to out him.
