Who will win the Australian Open?

After only dropping three games in his Qatar Open final win, Novak Djokovic was labelled the “perfect” player by Rafael Nadal.

Djokovic beat Tomas Berdych in the semis to reach the final against Nadal.

Back in the days when Nadal was still sporting a muscle top and pirate trousers, Djokovic was simply an upcoming challenger to the Spaniard and the Queen’s Club was decked in Stella Artois red, these two played out a high-quality final in west London.

“The way I played today gives me great satisfaction”.

“This is exactly how I want to start the year, getting to the final in the first tournament of the year, against one of my biggest rivals”, Djokovic said.

Djokovic posted 30 winners to only nine for Nadal in the 73-minute match. Again the momentum swung and this time Djokovic would not let it go. Not only will Saturday’s match break the tie but it could reveal much about what lies ahead for the rest of the year, and certainly in the Australian Open, which gets underway in just over a week. “I’m looking forward to it. I hope that I can be a good dad”.

Andy Murray and Roger Federer are certain that Novak Djokovic is the favourite for the Australian Open after his crushing victory over Rafael Nadal. “It’s perfection. When I say ideal, it’s not one thing in particular”.

Wawrinka, the two-time defending champion who won his first title here in 2011 after finishing runner-up in 2010, dominated the 65-minute match against third-seeded Paire with his strong serve, and saved his lone break point in the second set. However, both Murray and Federer are capable of beating anybody on their day and if all three players perform at their very best, tennis fans across the globe are set for a real treat.

The 14-time Grand Slam champion knew he needed to lift his level to stall the onslaught. Obviously knowing that I can play a match makes me feel relieved a bit, but it’s a little issue that has been there for most of this week.

The new season kicked-off, but Djokovic began from where he left a year ago. The 28-year-old would do just that to clinch it 6-1. As a matter of fact, Djokovic has won the last four times that he and Nadal have played.

That chance came when Berdych opened the door by botching a simple volley on game point in the sixth game, an error that changed the momentum of the contest and led to Djokovic getting the set back on serve and then winning it a few games later. “And I gonna wait my moment”.

“I don’t think it’s too serious”, said Djokovic. Having finished at 1.47am local time, it was fitting that during the presentation ceremony chairs were brought onto court for both players to enjoy a well-deserved sit down.
