As per report furnished by FDA, a sampling of these products were tested positive for the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes throughout a routine inspection of the chain’s North Atlantic Kitchen facility.

Whole Foods is offering a full refund for anyone who bought the recalled products.

Fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions sometimes preceded by diarrhea are a few of the symptoms associated with the listeria infection.

Whole Foods issued a recall for curry chicken and deli pasta salads.

The products which have been found with risk of causing listeria are Curry Chicken Salad, Curry Chicken Salad CC, PPK Salad Chicken Curry, Curry Chicken Salad Wrap, Single Curry Chicken Salad Wrap, and Curry Chicken Salad Rollup, all of which have been recalled.

The recall affected stores in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine.

No confirmed adverse reaction associated with consumption of the products has so far been reported but pulling out the possibly contaminated products was deemed necessary.

Listeria Monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Consumers should know if they have purchase any of the products from Whole Foods Markets within the last week.

At the same time, pregnant women are at high risk of miscarriage or stillbirth due to Listeria infection. Consumers should seek immediate medical care if they develop these symptoms.
