Swimmer Joseph Schooling won Singapore’s first-ever Olympic gold medal and also captured the hearts of his adoring countrymen.

One of the feel-good moments in Rio occurred in the 5,000 when American Abbey D’Agostino’s was involved in a chain-reaction tumble Tuesday with New Zealand’s Nikki Hamblin and, instead of running off, D’Agostino helped her up.

Americans Jenn Suhr and Sandi Morris will compete in the women’s pole vault final.

Who knows what twists tomorrow will offer, but their apparent lies have already stained their once-impressive Olympic performance. She stunningly failed to advance, finishing 25th out of 28 divers.

Medals are also to be awarded in the men’s 50km race walk (it starts at 8 a.m.) and the women’s 20km race walk (2:30 p.m.), and the men’s hammer throw (9:05 p.m.).

It was the first sweep of this event in Olympic history (the 100 hurdles was added to the women’s program in 1972).

Neymar scored two goals Wednesday – including the fastest one in Olympic history, just 15 seconds into the game – to lead Brazil to a 6-0 rout of Honduras in the semifinals and keep alive its hopes of winning Olympic soccer gold for the first time.

It was also a red-letter day for golf as women’s tournament teed-off for for the first time in 116 years. In the qualifying heats, Allyson Felix said she was bumped by a Brazilian runner and the US advanced after running a solo time trial. The other semifinal match is between Brazil and Russian Federation, which will take place at 9:15 p.m. ET.

Their medals Wednesday gave them 19 for the meet – five gold, seven silver and seven bronze – which is already one more than they won through the entire world championships past year in Beijing.

Well, here they are. In men’s 400-meter hurdles, Kerron Clement will represent the US team.
